Where does Chickasaw’s drinking water come from?

Chickasaw’s drinking water is pumped out of the ground by wells located south of the Village. This ground water is pumped to the water treatment plant where the water goes through filters and then chlorine is added to kill harmful bacteria. From there, it is pumped through a network of underground pipes to Chickasaw’s homes and area businesses.

About Chickasaw

The village of Chickasaw is located in the northern part of Marion Township in Mercer County. It is in the Marion Local School District.

The first settlers came from England and Ireland. In the 1840s, German Catholic settlers traveled on the Miami and Erie Canal and settled in the area. Many early settlers earned a living by hunting, trapping and cutting timber. Chickasaw was considered a “rough” town with its eight saloons and the first jail in Mercer County.
